In this chapter, we consider how collaborative remembering informs our understanding of the functions of autobiographical remembering. After a brief overview of the literature on functions of autobiographical remembering, we consider how the nature of collaborative remembering supports existing frameworks for thinking about function, and suggest additional functions that are important to examine.
