David Begun imagines the producer’s magnum opus as a bruising collaborative album with MF DOOM. In the 15 years since it was released, J Dilla‘s final album, Donuts, has mostly lived in its The Roots pay tribute to J Dilla on their 2006 album Game Theory with "Can't Stop This", a song that incorporates J Dilla's song "Time: The Donut of the Heart" as the beat with emcee Black Thought rapping about the impact he had on his life. The song closes with a number of voice messages discussing J Dilla's legacy and influence on hip-hop
J Dilla is never one to disappoint, and that is especially true on his magnum opus, Donuts. Many things have been said about this album that I don't care to rephrase. All I will say is that I hope J Dilla's family is doing great, and HOLY SHIT THIS IS WERE LIGHTWORKS CAME FROM?
